Winston-Salem Symphony Presents A Concert for Peace: Music of Bernstein and Jenkins

The Winston-Salem Symphony and Music Director Robert Moody will present Classics Series concerts entitled “A Concert for Peace: Music of Bernstein and Jenkins” on Sunday, March 11 and Tuesday, March 13, 2018. The Symphony along with the Winston-Salem Symphony Chorale, Dr. Christopher Gilliam, director, will perform Leonard Bernstein’s Symphony No. 1 (Jeremiah) and The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins. Mezzo-soprano Stephanie Foley Davis will perform with the Symphony for both pieces.

Winston-Salem Symphony Announces Five Finalists for Conductor Search Each Finalist Will Conduct a Classic Series During 2018–2019 Season

The Winston-Salem Symphony announced the five finalists for its conductor search as well as its 2018–2019 season on Wednesday, January 31. As part of the upcoming season, the finalists for the Symphony’s Music Director position will each conduct a pair of Classics Series concerts, which will give the Symphony musicians, staff, board, and the community a chance to see the candidates in action. In addition, there will be opportunities to interact with the finalists. Throughout the 2018–2019 season, the community will play a key role in helping the Symphony decide who ultimately assumes the baton to lead the Winston-Salem Symphony into the future.

Winston-Salem Symphony Presents Discovery Concert for Kids Star Wars 2.0: The Orchestra Strikes Back!

The Winston-Salem Symphony, Robert Moody, Music Director, will present a Discovery Concerts for Kids concert entitled Star Wars 2.0. Under the baton of Maestra Jessica Morel, the Winston-Salem Symphony’s Assistant Conductor, the concert will take place Sunday, February 11, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Reynolds Auditorium, located at 301 N. The Winston-Salem Symphony and Music Director Robert Moody will present Classics Series concerts entitled “Mozart & Shostakovich” on Saturday, January 6; Sunday, January 7; and Tuesday, January 9, 2018. The Symphony will perform the Overture to The Marriage of Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), K. 492 and Concerto in C Major for Piano and Orchestra, K. 467 by Wolfgang Amadeus (W.A.) Winston-Salem Symphony Appoints Jessica Morel Assistant Conductor

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AUGUST 10, 2016) – The Winston-Salem Symphony has named Jessica Morel assistant conductor effective August 24.
