WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (MARCH 26, 2018) – The Winston-Salem Symphony, Robert Moody, Music Director, joined by the Jeans ‘n Classics Band featuring singer Jean Meilleur, will present an evening honoring the music of David Bowie on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 7:30 p.m.
Under the baton of Maestra Jessica Morel, the Symphony and the Jeans ‘n Classics Band will present a concert spanning Bowie’s diverse repertoire, including classics such as “Space Oddity,” “Rebel Rebel,” “Fame,” “Let’s Dance,” “Modern Love,” and many more!
The Music of David Bowie will take place at Reynolds Auditorium, 301 N. Hawthorne Road in Winston-Salem. Tickets range from $20– $67 and are available in advance by calling the Symphony Box Office at 336-464-0145 or online at WSsymphony.org.
The Symphony and Bookmarks will host David Bowie Trivia Night Tuesday, April 17 at 6:00 p.m. at Footnote, 634 W. Fourth St., Ste. 120. Gather your trivia team and test your knowledge on all things Bowie, including a special “Name That Tune” round featuring live music from Symphony musicians. Jean Meilleur has been a headliner with Jeans ’n Classics for over 20 years. In that time, he has performed with scores of major North American orchestras, lending his distinctive voice to some of the greatest popular music of our time. Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, Meilleur was born and remains a Green Bay Packer fanatic. He moved to Detroit, Michigan at a young age. Living in the Motor City helped shape his penchant for the Motown, Soul, and R&B sounds of the early ’70s. Meilleur is a prolific songwriter who has been performing professionally for over 30 years. His singing voice
can best be described as passionate and provocative, with a robust timbre that is immediately recognizable. His voice stands as a true original. Meilleur’s voice has been heard over the years on many national radio and television jingles and advertisements. He was recently chosen as the Canadian voice of Jim Beam Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
